SSH Telnet
Want to find out what Telnet is and what it's used for?
Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol used to execute commands on a remote web server or to exchange information between a web server and a client. Since the info exchanged by the 2 sides is encrypted, a 3rd party can't intercept it, which makes SSH a favored means of handling a hosting account. The commands which could be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared server, for instance, the alternatives are limited because you won't have root access to the server, so you could simply create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, export and import databases, etcetera. These are all actions that are carried out in the shared hosting account and don't require a higher level of access. With a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall be able to install server-side software or to restart the hosting server or only a specific service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, and if you do not use a UNIX-like OS, there are a number of apps for other OSs, which you can use to connect to the remote hosting server as well.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting
SSH access could be allowed with a mouse click from the Hepsia Control Panel if the
Linux shared hosting which you have selected includes this function by default. If not, you may add it from the Add Services/Upgrades section of your CP and enable it at once. You'll discover all the information you need within the SSH section of the Control Panel - the host, the port number and the username which you have to use, along with detailed Help articles in which we've listed the commands which you can use within the account and examples of the syntax that you have to use. The SSH password may be modified from the exact same section anytime with a few clicks. So long as SSH access is enabled, you'll also be able to connect safely via an FTP client as well. With an SFTP connection, each of the files which you upload shall go through an encrypted connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
You shall be able to connect to your
semi-dedicated server account via SSH regardless of which plan you pick when you sign up. With some plans, the function is provided as standard, and with others, it could be added as and additional upgrade for as long as you need it. You'll find the necessary login info in the Hepsia Control Panel, provided with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You can select the password you'll use and if you want to, you may change it on a regular basis with a few mouse clicks for even higher security. You will be able to see all the commands which you can use upfront, since we have listed them along with examples of how they are used to execute a certain task. The moment SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is allowed, you will be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in VPS
You'll be able to use SSH to manage your content no matter which
Linux virtual private servers you choose when you sign up, because all of our packages include this feature by default. You'll not need to include or enable anything by hand - the instant your web server is ready and you get the Welcome e-mail with the login info, you could connect and start working on your Internet sites or any software you want to install and run on the server. You shall have root-level access to the VPS and because the account will be isolated from the other accounts in the physical hosting server, you'll be able to do anything you want without any restrictions. You'll be able to set up any app you need and that shall run on a Linux-based machine, restart any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and handle your files and databases easily and quickly.
